Logistics in flexible production environments can profit from novel wireless communication opportunities like 5G networks. AIRPoRT develops intelligent and distributed intralogistics through cloud/edge networked mobile robot populations. Main steps towards this goal are 

  • the development of a holistic, cross-vehicle navigation environment model,
  • the development of an order management and a globally cooperative path planner for the coordination of heterogeneous robot populations, and
  • novel algorithms for traffic flow optimization, especially trajectory control and conflict resolution.
This focus topic is co-ordinated by the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA.
